Nico Haryono is a documentary photographer based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Interested in telling a story through photography, he focuses on travel and identity issues. Nico’s works were published in some Indonesian magazines, as well as the documentation of many NGOs he has worked for. From 2009 to present, he is a volunteer documentary photographer for Al Fatah Yogyakarta, an Islamic transgender boarding school in the island of Java, Indonesia. In 2008 and 2010, respectively, he won the UNESCO Gender Equality Photo Contest and the UNESCO Promoting Gender Equality in Education. In 2018, he received a grant from TIFA Foundation.
