Gian Cruz (b. 1987, Manila, Philippines), an emerging artist whose artistic practice is heavily rooted in photography. His major preoccupation is about tracing identities in the digital age and crosses over to the realm of performance, video and other multimedia platforms, which situates his works towards a more complex spectrum. Cruz has been widely exhibited across Europe, the USA, Korea and the Philippines and has also previously worked as a researcher for the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea. He has been shortlisted for the Ateneo Art Awards: Purita Kalaw-Ledesma Prize for Art Criticism in 2014, one of the finalists for the Personal Light | The Photophore Contemporary Photo Award and one of the winners in the Pride Photo Award in 2016.
